Our Mountain Tour is our most popular adventure and we can guarantee a magical way to experience the snowy mountains together with your friends and family. Meet our Huskies who will take you through the beautiful landscape to the sound of eager paws across the snow. When you arrive, your guide will give you a short mushing and safety instruction before heading into the mountains. Your guide will steer the first sled and you will follow safely in their tracks, pulled by your team of huskies. You drive your own sled. Don’t worry, there will be guides to assist you at all times during your journey. Each sled can have a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children.
The tour will give you a greater view of the natural surroundings of Sälen and also a historical talk about the cosy mountain cabin of Storfjällsgraven. When we have reached Storfjällsgraven we make a short stop where you can get coffee and hot chocolate. There is of course also time to cuddle with the dogs!
Please make sure to be there 15 minutes before your tour starts.
Remember to pre-book in time and it is safest to do so directly online in the booking calendar below. Be careful with the date and start time, an incorrectly booked trip will not be refunded.
Booking requests made via e-mail are only accepted subject to availability and prepaid via SMS link. We therefore ask you to state; Full name, phone number, start time and date, number of adults and children, weight, if you want to include snacks on the mountain and cancellation insurance.

Passionate musher and adventurer in winter turns avid mountain biker in summer, Björn has been on bikes since he could walk. Newfound love of packrafting and all forms of white water shenanigans.
The young buck on the mountain. Despite that, he has logged the most time spent in and just outside of a packraft. Dog loving ski phantom with a contagious calmness, and the best pancake chef on the river!
Combines curiosity with calmness, grit with empathy and has a fantastic connection with the dogs. Summers are best spent trekking for weeks or exploring rivers in a canoe.
For our daily trips the meeting point is between the hotel Gammelgården and Högfjällshotellet. You can park your car at the Restaurant Appetito, and walk the last 50 meters to the starting point located just by the road. WHEN SHOULD WE BE THERE?
We need time to give you proper instructions before we leave. Have also in mind that the dogs are always anxious to go. Therefore it’s really important that you be there 15 minutes before we leave.
What happens if we are late to our tour?
For our dogsled trips we need 15 minutes to assemble, instruct and give you your teams. That means that you need to be at our starting point at least 15 minutes before departure. If you are not we regret that in such cases we can’t pay any compensation and you loose your spot.
DO WE NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?
Please make your reservation at least one day ahead. During high season we are very busy so please make your reservation at least a week ahead.
HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
Dress for a day in the slopes but wear boots with high shafts instead of ski boots. Don’t forget your goggles, they might come in handy.
Avoid cotton socks and always wear gloves and a hat of sorts. Please have a look at nordicadventure.com if you feel that you need some proper gear!
DO WE DRIVE THE TEAMS OURSELVES?
Yes, we operate our tours by letting you drive the dogsled. There is of course a guide on the first team and you will get good instructions before we leave. There is nothing to worry about. All our costumers are beginners…
IS IT FAST?
Well that is of course a matter of opinion. The speed varies from 10-25 km/hour.
HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN THE DOGS PULL?
Our dogs begin their training early autumn and can run at least 30 km a day. As a matter a fact, its really important to let these dogs exercise to stay both physically and mentally fit. They can pull a maximum weight of 210 kg/sled (weight of passengers.)
CAN ANYONE DRIVE A SLED?
Must of our customers are newbies but its is really important that when you make your reservation you let us know about any physical limitation that might restrict you from driving. If you are fit enough to go skiing, you are fit enough to mush. Otherwise, you can most likely go with the guide on his/her sled.
I AM PREGNANT, IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO GO?
It is quite bumpy and if you feel uncertain, please ask in advance to go with a guide.
CAN I PAY WITH CASH?
You pay the tour when you make your reservation, by credit card. At the stop you must bring cash for coffee, warm chocolate and treats, as the stops are often where there is no electricity.
IS THE TOUR CANCELLED IF ITS BAD WEATHER?
We always adjust our tours so they are suited for every weather condition. Snow, wind and cold are part of the environment that we work in and give the tour another dimension. But have in mind that you should dress for a cold experience. Avoid cotton socks and always wear gloves and a hat of sorts. Please have a look at nordicadventure.com if you feel that you need some proper gear!
