Guided Snowmobile tours in Sälen

The mountains of Sälen are vast and have so much to offer to it’s visitors. Our tours help you get the most out of your time in the saddle. Arriving at the starting point you will first receive a protective helmet before we walk you through how to operate your machine and also guiding lines to safely travel amongst other visitors in the mountains. If its cold and windy you may prefer to bring a balaclava or a thin hat for extra warmth underneath your helmet.

Driving the snowmobile is quite easy and you will soon get the hang of it. Feel the speed as you drive through the snow and enjoy the mountain views. Our trips guide you into the mountains and we make a short pause at one of the cosy cabins where you can get a cup of hot chocolate or a waffle. Please bring cash for the cafés because they don’t always accept cards!

We also arrange longer trips for experienced riders or groups that wants an exclusive tour. In our full day tour lunch is included and is served at one of the cosy mountain cafés or prepared over an open fire! Please contact us for planning your adventure, corporate trip or pre-wedding shenanigans.

To drive a snowmobile you need a drivings license! Make sure to make your reservation in advance and to be at the starting point 15 minutes before the tour starts.

Q&A, Get prepared

WERE DO WE MEET?

For our daily trips the meeting point is at Högfjällshotellet. You can park your car at the lot by the hotell.

WHEN SHOULD WE BE THERE?

We would like to have time to give you proper instructions before we leave. Therefore it’s really important that you are there 15 minutes before we leave.

What happens if we are late to our tour?

For our snow mobile trips we need 15 minutes to assemble, instruct and give you your equipment. That means that you need to be at our starting point at least 15 minutes before departure. If you are not we regret that in such cases we can’t pay any compensation and you loose your spot.

DO WE NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

Please make your reservation at least one day ahead. During high season we are very busy so please make your reservation at least a week ahead.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

Dress for a day in the slopes but wear boots with high shafts instead of ski boots. Snow, wind and cold are part of the environment that we work in and give the tour another dimension. But have in mind that you should dress for a cold experience. Avoid cotton socks and always wear gloves! Please have a look at nordicadventure.com if you feel that you need some proper gear!

There are also coveralls and boots to borrow if needed.

I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE, CAN I DRIVE?

Yes, we walk you through how to drive a snowmobile. You need a driving license. There is of course a guide on the snowmobile and you will get good instructions before we leave. There is nothing to worry about. Most of our costumers are beginners… Of course there is zero tolerance for alcohol!

IS IT FAST?

Well that is of course a matter of opinion. The speed varies from 10-65 km/hour and the throttle is by your own thumb!

I AM PREGNANT, IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO GO?

It is quite bumpy and if you feel uncertain, please ask in advance to go with a guide.

HOW DO I PAY?

You can pay with both cash and card. At the stop you must bring cash for coffee, warm chocolate and treats, as the stops are often where there is no electricity.

IS THE TOUR CANCELLED IF ITS BAD WEATHER?

We always adjust our tours so they are suited for every weather condition. Snow, wind and cold are part of the environment that we work in and give the tour another dimension. But have in mind that you should dress for a cold experience. Avoid cotton socks and always wear gloves! Please have a look at nordicadventure.com if you feel that you need some proper gear!
