2,5 hour sled dog trip

Our 2,5 hour sled dog tour targets our more passionated guests who are eager to learn more about handling the dogs and putting together a winning team. This is a tour that takes you further into the mountains, and includes a slightly longer break where your can treat yourself to a waffle and a hot beverage on a secluded mountain café. This is also a great time to spend cuddling with our howling heroes.

We meet 15 minutes before departure and start getting our dog teams together. After the introduction and safety briefing we head up the mountain on our dog sleds. Each sled is driven by one in your company,  and the guide leads the convoy into the wilderness.

Please make sure to be at our starting point at least 15 minutes before departure, or 30 minutes before if you like to help us set the teams.

Remember to pre-book in time and it is safest to do so directly online in the booking calendar below. Be careful with the date and start time, an incorrectly booked trip will not be refunded.

Booking requests made via e-mail are only accepted subject to availability and prepaid via SMS link. We therefore ask you to state; For – surname, phone number, start time and date, number of adults and children, weight, if you want to include snacks on the mountain and cancellation insurance.

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR DOGSLED TOUR

WERE DO WE MEET?

For our daily trips the meeting point is between the hotel Gammelgården and Högfjällshotellet. You can park your car at the Restaurant Appetito, and walk the last 50 meters to the starting point located just by the road. If you go by foot from Högfjällshotellet, it is about 750 meters East along Route 66.

Position: 61°09’26.8″N 13°07’54.8″E

WHEN SHOULD WE BE THERE?

We need time to give you proper instructions before we leave. Have also in mind that the dogs are always anxious to go. Therefore it’s really important that you be there 15 minutes before we leave.

What happens if we are late to our tour?

For our dogsled trips we need 15 minutes to assemble, instruct and give you your teams. That means that you need to be at our starting point at least 15 minutes before departure. If you are not we regret that in such cases we can’t pay any compensation and you loose your spot.

DO WE NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

Please make your reservation at least one day ahead. During high season we are very busy so please make your reservation at least a week ahead.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

Dress for a day in the slopes but wear boots with high shafts instead of ski boots. Don’t forget your goggles, they might come in handy.

Avoid cotton socks and always wear gloves and a hat of sorts. Please have a look at nordicadventure.com if you feel that you need some proper gear!

DO WE DRIVE THE TEAMS OURSELVES?

Yes, we operate our tours by letting you drive the dogsled. There is of course a guide on the first team and you will get good instructions before we leave. There is nothing to worry about. All our costumers are beginners…

IS IT FAST?

Well that is of course a matter of opinion. The speed varies from 10-25 km/hour.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN THE DOGS PULL?

Our dogs begin their training early autumn and can run at least 30 km a day. As a matter a fact, its really important to let these dogs exercise to stay both physically and mentally fit. They can pull approximately 210 kg/sled.

CAN ANYONE DRIVE A SLED?

Must of our customers are newbies but its is really important that when you make your reservation you let us know about any physical limitation that might restrict you from driving. If you are fit enough to go skiing, you are fit enough to mush. Otherwise, you can most likely go with the guide on his/her sled.

I AM PREGNANT, IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO GO?

It is quite bumpy and if you feel uncertain, please ask in advance to go with a guide.

What does the snacks on the mountain include?

Snacks on the mountain consists of a hot drink, coffee, tea or hot chocolate and a cinnamon bun.

May contain traces of:

– Hazelnuts

– Walnuts

– Almond

Gluten intolerance options:

– chocolate ball

– chocolate square with sea salt

Both may contain traces of:

– Hazelnuts

– Almond

IS THE TOUR CANCELLED IF ITS BAD WEATHER?

We always adjust our tours so they are suited for every weather condition. Snow, wind and cold are part of the environment that we work in and give the tour another dimension. But have in mind that you should dress for a cold experience. Avoid cotton socks and always wear gloves and a hat of sorts. Please have a look at nordicadventure.com if you feel that you need some proper gear!
